Terms of Service

The agreement between you and us when you use CosmicoLab.

Version 2026-07-29. We keep a record of which version you agreed to when you signed up.

Draft — pending legal review. Not yet a binding notice.

This text was drafted from what the software actually does, not by a lawyer, and it has not been reviewed by one. It describes our real data practices accurately to the best of our knowledge, but it must be reviewed and approved by qualified counsel — against COPPA, GDPR / UK GDPR, and any state privacy laws that apply — before this service accepts a sign-up from a child.

Outstanding: the operating entity and the contact address for parental access and deletion requests are still unset (LEGAL_OPERATOR / LEGAL_CONTACT_EMAIL in src/lib/legal.ts). COPPA requires both to be published.

Who may use CosmicoLab

CosmicoLab is operated by [OPERATOR NAME — NOT SET]. To open an account you must be an adult — a parent or guardian, a teacher, or a school administrator — or a learner aged 13 or over.

Children under 13 may use CosmicoLab, but only through an account created for them by a parent, guardian or school. They may not create their own.

Accounts, and who is responsible

Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has it. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

If you create an account for a child, you confirm you have the authority to do so and you are responsible for their use of the service. If you create accounts for students as a teacher or school, you confirm your school permits it and that you have whatever parental permissions your school's own policies require.

Using the service properly

Please don't:

  • break the law, or use CosmicoLab to harm anybody;
  • try to get into accounts, data or systems that aren't yours;
  • disrupt the service, or attempt to defeat its limits or protections;
  • copy, scrape or redistribute our lessons and course content;
  • resell access, or share a single account across a class or a school.

Plans and payment

Some content is free and some needs a paid plan. Paid plans are billed through Stripe on the cycle shown at checkout and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

If we change prices, we will tell you before the change applies to your renewal. See Plans & pricing for what is currently included.

Who owns what

The lessons, puzzles, artwork and software are ours and stay ours. Your account gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for learning — at home, or in the classroom the account was bought for.

Anything your child creates while using the service belongs to them.

What we promise, and what we don't

We work hard to keep CosmicoLab running, accurate and safe, but we provide it as it is. We do not promise it will always be available or entirely free of errors, and it is a learning aid rather than a substitute for a school curriculum or professional educational advice.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Ending the agreement

You may stop using CosmicoLab and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we must do so to protect a child or another user. If we close your account without cause, we will refund the unused part of anything you have paid.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell account holders before it takes effect. Each version is dated, and we record which version an account agreed to.
